There are some skincare products I just come back to time and time again. Because I love the products and the experience; the smell, the texture, the look of it on my bathroom shelf. But not to sound fickle, I also return to these products for their efficacy. They actually deliver results and improvement (or at the very least maintenance!) of my skin. Here are a round up of my favourite and must-pack skincare products, that I took with me to my Caribbean escape last November. We loved it so much we’re booked to go this November too!
Spa Fabulous Cleanse & Glow Bliss Cleanser
This is a gorgeous velvety cleanser that nourishes whilst cleansing. Great for dry and mature skin types, as well as those that have been out in the sun all day! It contains Frankincense, which is great for evening skin tone and working on pigmentation and sun spots, Rosehip Seed oil to help repair and add EFAs to plump the skin, healing Lavender and the wonderfully hydrating Jojoba. All of that just in one cleanser!
Antipodes Ananda Antioxidant-Rich Gentle Toner
I love how refreshing this spritz is but more than that, I love what’s inside. It contains award-winning artesian water from New Zealand, called Waiwera. It is super-mineralised and pure. There’s also soothing Aloe Vera, Bulgarian Rose Oil which helps with skin tone and texture, Raspberry Extract which is rich in tannins and flavonoids to soothe and calm skin, and antioxidant-rich Mamaku black fern which assists with healthy cell proliferation. Lots of reasons to spray this on your sun-parched skin, we always pack this in our beach bag! Available from feelunique.com £20.99
Next up, Rio Amazon Rio Rosa Mosqueta
Pure Rosehip Oil in a bottle, Rio Rosa Mosqueta is great as a treatment for skin that has been out in the sun all day. It may help reduce the appearance of blemishes, scars, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, sun spots and more! Available from bodykind.com
Spa Fabulous Little Pot of Heaven
My Biteable Best of Beauty Award Winning Moisturiser of 2014. There are a host of ingredients in here to help repair and protect skin from the sun, including – Co Q10 – a top free radical fighter and encourages the production of collagen and elastin, moisturising Pure Rose, healing and reparative Rosehip Oil, antioxidant vitamin E to replenish and fight free radicals, Liquorice to correct pigmentation, and refining Frankincense, as well as natural sunscreens to protect. If you baulk at the price on first look, don’t fret! The “little” pot lasts months, and is heaven-scent skincare, with the gorgeous fragrance of Frankincense and Rose.
Several Antipodes products have undergone in vitro studies to ascertain the efficacy of them. Admittedly the product has direct contact with the human fibroblast cells (in a petri dish in a laboratory!) and the product has the skin to penetrate to reach them in the real world, but even so putting such a high-performance product on our visages must be doing some good, right?! Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream has been shown in the aforementioned tests to stimulate the synthesis of collagen production by up to 82%! The product feels luxuriously creamy but is really easily absorbed by the skin, and only a tiny pea-sized amount is required for both eyes. Kiwi Seed Oil is super rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant free radical scavenger and also an essential ingredient for the production of collagen in the skin. There’s also nourishing carrot seed oil, soothing and cooling aloe gel, smoothing jojoba oil and the natural anti-ager all Antipodes products are based around, avocado oil.
Finally, we have Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream
Another scientifically validated product from Antipodes, scientifically shown to increase the production of Type I Collagen in human fibroblast cells by up to 92%! It contains moisturising Shea Butter, Plant Squalene, anti-ager Avocado Oil, hydrating and antibacterial Manuka Honey, nourishing Macadamia Nut Oil, wonderful Coconut Oil, pure Vitamin E, and last but by no means least the formidable Vinanza Grape Grapeseed Extract
