The Advanced Nutrition Programme is a range of supplements developed by Patrick Holford, a leading nutritionist whose books I am very familiar with. This supplement, called Skin Pure, is designed especially to help with detoxing from the inside out. The nutrients contained within the supplements are all support liver function, and the liver is the most important organ when it comes to detoxing the body and therefore the skin. Such support from inside means that any detox activity will be more effective. These pills are ideal to use in conjunction with detox treatments and may have a positive impact on the results of treatments such as body wraps, anti-cellulite massage or as I was using them with, the Infrared Iyashi Domes at My Detox Diet.
Now, I didn’t do any kind of comparative tests to see how effective the domes were without the pills, but using both together I felt great. My metabolism was increased, my skin was glowing and radiant, the appearance of cellulite was decreased, and I lost a bit of weight. The only thing I would complain about these supplements is the very strong smell, their pungency escapes the tub the moment you open it and it’s almost too much when taking first thing in the morning (which is when I take my supplements). If you are looking for a supplement to help you get beach body ready and to support any other detox activity, internally or externally, then this could be the product for you!
The main ingredient of the capsules is Choline Bitartrate, a water-soluble essential nutrient, usually grouped with the B-Vitamins. This compound is necessary for good liver and kidney function, the main two organs that deal with waste in the body. Vegetarians, vegans and people who drink a lot of alcohol may be deficient in choline and could benefit from supplementation. Other active ingredients listed are Inositol (an insulin indicator and involved in the breaking down of fats), Beta Sitosterol (linked to fat and cholesterol absorption), L-Methionine (an essential amino acid that is used by the body to synthesise other amino acids that are related to fat metabolism), Phloridzin (blood sugar regulator, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and Biotin (essential for healthy skin, hair and nails!).
This supplement is not tested on animals, free from added sugar, salt, starch, wheat, gluten, maize/corn, yeast, lactose, dairy, artificial preservatives, colourings and flavourings. Many of the products from the range are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
