When it comes to wrinkles, I’m fairly lucky in that I don’t have any to really talk about. Dark circles/discolouration around the eyes, however, was a different story. I always thought this was partly down to one New Years Day on a beach in Peru, having covered all of me but my eyes with P20 (this was way before my organic kick) I fell asleep with my sunglasses on my head. Opening my eyes several hours later was immensely painful, as it was for the next few days (and wearing sunglasses to my work meetings was just slightly embarrassing!) I drank lots of water and put cucumber on my eyes whenever I could along with applying soothing aloe at first, and later concha de nacar (I’ll dedicate a post to this cream at a later date!).
I had thought the dark discolouration around my eyes was untreatable, until one day I was talking to Ursula at Whole Foods Stoke Newington. I was debating which eye product to buy, and she recommended I try the Active 7 Radiant Eye Maintenance Gel by REN, as she thought the arnica would work wonders on my dark circles. I explained the aforementioned beach fiasco to her, and she then strongly recommended that I try the product, so I did. I wasn’t expecting instant results, in fact, I was dubious that I would see any results. I didn’t suddenly see a dramatic change, but about three months down the line after using the product more or less every morning and night, I looked in the mirror and noticed that the skin below my eyes was much less dark than it had previously been.
The skin around my eyes also looks smoother and in better condition, due to pectins from sea grass and natural hyaluronic acid.
I have always been extremely sceptical of products which claim to reverse the signs of ageing, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, banish dark circles and so on, but on this occasion, I have been pleasantly surprised!
