Beyond Beauty Paris- 2014

As you may have already read, in September of last year I was lucky enough to be invited to judge at The Beauty Challenger Awards at Cosmeeting’s Beyond Beauty Paris show. Read about my city break here. The last time I went to this show was as a visitor in 2011, so it was great to be invited fto be on the judging panel of these prestigious awards! It seems so long ago now, but I thought I would share with you some of the highlights from the show for me, if you’ve heard of any of these brand do let me know what products you have tried!

First up, German makeup brand Und Gretel. Unfortunately on the day that I was visiting their sample and selling stock had not arrived so they only had the stuff in the display cabinet. Nevertheless co-founder and Berlin based makeup artist Christina Roth showed me their foundation along with their eye makeup and I was super impressed. The brand and its products had been seven years in the making, and the fastidiousness showed through in the products! It seems rather timely that on the day I wrote this post they launched their products into stores across Germany and one in Austria. Their website goes live on the 29th January – undgretel.com

Next up, Jane Iredale‘s stand. Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of Jane Iredale products, and I was lucky enough to meet the lovely lady behind the brand. I’m ashamed to say I’ve still not typed up my recording – I really should put that on my to-do list! They had a few new products on display. Firstly, City Lights; a stylish new sophisticated palette that they launched for autumn. Check out that eyeshadow palette! Such fabulous neutrals; I feel a smokey neutral eye coming on! There are also some great gel eyeliners and a sparkly lip gloss.

Next, Smell the Roses Hydration Spray; a beautiful rose toner, a few spritzes of this were a welcome refreshment to my skin as I walked around the expo.

Natura Siberica is a brand I’ve seen around at the Natural & Organic Products Europe show, and I tried a couple of their products previously; the eye cream sadly irritated my skin but the face mask I love. I was so happy to see them at Beyond Beauty Paris! It’s one of those that warms on application to the skin. Review on that coming very soon! The below product is definitely on my to try list next – Northern Soap – a detox soap for deep facial cleansing. It’s a black soap, so looks most unusual and certainly stood out the most out of all the products I was reviewing!

Something I did get to try (again review coming soon) is the fabulous Natura Siberica Sea Buckthorn hair care. The cleansing shampoo and deep hydrating conditioner. They are fabulous products that really smoothed my hair, leaving it insuperb condition. I also love the smell of them, although what the fragrance is I could not tell you.

Ami Oyok was a brand I found particularly exciting – an anti-ageing (or should I say slow ageing) skincare line. I liked the packaging and the products seemed great from a glance over the ingredients list and a quick back of the hand test! I’m hoping to meet the founder, Ami, on one of her trips to London soon so that I might learn more about her and her range of products – stay tuned!

JYB was another brand that excited me, and they actually gave me a sample to take away however I am unsure exactly what it is. I believe it’s the day cream! I like their packaging, for me, there is something very Soap and Glory about it. I’ll let you know how I get on with the product soon!

Jardin de France was launching a new collection of perfumes – Jardin des Hesperides – and they sure smelt very special. I talked at great length to the chap on the stand about perfumery and the whole natural vs. synthetic debate. Whilst not natural, he assured me the fragrances were phthalate free.

Dvine Douro Skincare was an interesting brand; although not entirely natural their products were fragranced with Portwine DNA (douro nuclear aroma) sourced from the first entirely organic Port Wine, made with grapes from vines organically grown in the Douro Region, in the North of Portugal.

On first glance I thought that Alqvimia was one of those brands pretending to be 100% natural, because it has that look about it. However the products are 100% natural. I do have a sample of something in my #TryMeBeautiful stash, so look out for a review of that coming soon!

Overall, I had a lovely time at Beyond Beauty Paris! Hope to return someday soon!

Have you seen any interesting brands so far in 2015? I’d love to hear about your findings!
