Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) – has been linked to cancer. Health concerns include problems in the endocrine system, increased risk of diabetes in women, nausea, it’s an irritant, causes reproductive issues and has been linked to birth defects.
Formaldehyde – a known carcinogen which may cause allergic reactions and breathing issues.
Methylene Glycol/Formalin – another known carcinogen
Toluene – health concerns include dizziness, dry skin, it’s an irritant, casues headaches, liver and kidney damage, nausea, numbness, and has been linked to birth defects.
Formaldehyde Resin – it’s frequently debated as to whether formaldehyde resin poses any health concern, some say no but others list it as a toxin and may be an irritant and cause allergic reactions.
Camphor – health concerns include dizziness, headaches, and nausea. When exposed to in high amounts (not those found in nail polish) it can be poisonous, an irritant, cause seizures and even unconsciousness.
Parabens – frequently spoken about, and hotly debated, there is a lot of mounting evidence that propyl parabens are endocrine disruptors.
