Natural Beauty Oils
One of my favourite beauty products – natural beauty oils! Their versatility, their nurturing and nourishing ways, how they leave my skin soft, smooth and utterly hydrated… really what’s not to love?! I’d love to know your thoughts on natural beauty oils, so why not leave me a comment with your favourite natural beauty oil below, or on Facebook or tweet me @biteablebeauty
Why Beauty Oils?
I am forever getting questioned about beauty oils – mostly along the lines of “won’t they make my skin oily?” or “my skin is already oily, won’t a beauty oil just add to the problem?” The answer to both of these questions dear readers is a big fat NO! If you think back to your chemistry lessons at school, think about how oils and water react. They don’t mix remember? Well the same happens in your skin – neither water nor water-based products will remove excess oil from the skin. It’s only oil that can balance oil in the skin. There are so many nutrient-rich oils found in nature that are of great benefit when applied to the skin, delivering antioxidants as well as hydration. Oily skins will be balanced and healthy-looking (not a shiny T-zone in sight) whilst dry skins will soak up the oil and feel softer, smoother and hydrated.
What is the Difference Between a Serum and a Beauty Oil?
A serum is a concentrated product, it’s thick and is made from extractions of natural ingredients based in water. They have a lightweight feel and because they are water based they are absorbed quickly into the skin, delivering the ingredients deeply through the skin’s pores. A facial oil is a concentration of natural oil extracts from botanicals and fruits and are rich in vitamins, essential oils and antioxidants. They take longer to be absorbed by the skin.

Rio Rosa Mosqueta is a pure and simple oil – containing just 100% Rio Rosa Mosqueta Oil. The Rosa Mosqueta is a wild rose found in the Chilean Andes, and is the most effective plant oil for skin repair and restoration. Antioxidant-rich, is helps slow the ageing process, and contains vitamin A in the form of trans-retinoic acid. It has a high content of Essential Fatty Acids, in particular Gamma Linoleic Acid, which are necessary for healthy skin regeneration, maintaining elasticity, and hydration. Clinical studies have shown that Rio Rosa Mosqueta softens scars, reduces pigmentation and sun damage, improves the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, crow’s feet and helps moisturise dry skin. One thing I would say is that this oil doesn’t have a “fragrance” as such, so it doesn’t smell like a luxurious skin treat, but it is highly effective and is a bargain for the price!

JĀSÖN® Vitamin E Oil 5,000iu is a blend of 5 essential natural oils of Almond, Apricot, Avocado, Sunflower and Wheat Germ to renew skin’s softness. It smells like marzipan, thanks to the almond, and is suitable for all-over use. It’s not heavy and is easily absorbed by the skin. I sometimes use this oil by itself or if I need an extra hydrating treatment I will add to my favourite moisturising cream or lotion.
