Booty Camp : The Supplements

I did a little reading up, I asked for some expert advice from Solgar and it appeared that I should be taking the following vitamins in my quest for perfection. Please be vigilant when experimenting with supplements as every body is different and can react in different ways to supplements. I read about a lady who started bruising when taking a combination of horse chestnut and garlic supplements, however I must say I have been bruising less easily since taking the supplements listed below.

Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica)

This herb has been researched considerably in recent years in combating cellulite, it is now believed that it works in two ways to improve the appearance of cellulite. Whilst helping to improve the circulation, this miracle herb also helps to strengthen connective skin tissue surrounding fat chambers, which means firstly that waste and fatty deposits in these areas are reached by the blood more and therefore potentially carried away and secondly the cottage cheese effect is reduced by the stronger tissues as this means the fat is contained better and doesn’t bulge out so much giving a smoother appearance. Gotu kola is also a natural source of caffeine, which aids the fat burning process.

Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum)

This extract is rich in saponins and flavones which improve the circulation by strengthening the vein walls, and also aids with water retention, another factor which can contribute to the appearance of cellulite.

Rutin

Rutin, like all flavanoids, is packed full of antioxidants. It is found in nutrient rich foods, citrus (particularly the rinds), broccoli, red apples, tea and even onions. It improves circulation by strengthening capillaries, it also fights free radical damage and also maintains the level of collagen in the skin. All three of these qualities assist in the battle against cellulite.

Co Q-10

Co enzyme Q-10 is an antioxidant that occurs naturally in the body, however ageing and stress can reduces the levels present in the body. It promotes and may increase the growth of collagen and elastin in the skin, which helps smooth out the mattress effect.

Ginko Biloba

Another powerful antioxidant which helps fight free radical damage, improve circulation around the whole body and is also a natural blood thinner that increases the microcirculation to skin and fat cells, therefore enabling easier disposal of waste and fatty deposits in areas.
