Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser – Luxurious Cleansing Balm. One For All!
Biteable Best Of Beauty Awards are about to be announced for 2013-14
but before I do that, I felt I should share my comments on last year’s winners that I’ve not got around to writing/posting about yet. There are a few, so this may delay the new award announcements, so you’ll just have to bear with me 🙂
Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser
was an absolute hero product of mine last year. The packaging has had a facelift since I tried it, and whilst there was nothing wrong with the previous look I feel the new box and branding brings the product in line with its price tag. At £43 it’s definitely what I would call an investment piece, but one jar should last you for months. I love cleansing balms and oils and this is most definitely up there in my all time favourite cleansers!
I say one for all in my title because this skin cleanser really is suitable for all skin types. The base is Organic Jojoba Oil, which you may know is very close in structure to the skin’s own natural sebum so it not only easily penetrates the skin it also helps to balance oil in the skin – whether your skin has too much or not enough! But wait, there’s more perks to Jojoba! It also promotes the production of both Collagen and Elastin, the very foundations of our skin. Along with Jojoba Oil there’s also Beeswax, which has antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory properties as well as moisturising properties that work in conjunction with the oils in the formula to remove excess dirt and dead skin cells, leaving skin thoroughly cleansed.
The blend of essential oils reads like my at home collection for burning – Ylang Ylang, Elemi, Eucalptus, Frankincense, Lemongrass, Lavender, Myrrh, Sandalwood and Sweet Orange. I love Frankincense in skincare as it helps improve tone and works on pigmentation, Lavender as you will know is very calming for both skin and senses, and Lemongrass is balancing.
All you need is a pea sized amount to cover your face and neck. The product is quite soft in the pot but melts slowly to spread far and wide with no need for a top up. The added bonus with this product is you also get a fluffy, kitten soft flannel mitt to remove the product. I run this under the hot tap till it’s steamy and gently dab my face. I then repeat this with hot water once and then tepid water for a third time to close the pores. I then repeat the whole process again if it’s nighttime, double cleansing to ensure all the London dirt is off my skin!
Choosing a cleanser can be difficult. It is fundamental, and in my opinion the most important stage, of skincare. What are your thoughts? Do you have a must-have cleanser for your skin? I’d love to hear from you. I’m very excited to be going next month to meet Jane Scrivner and experience a facial at her new store concept – watch out for that post coming soon!
