Have You Discovered HJ Manicure?

I’m so pleased to have discovered HJ Manicure. Well, actually Helen discovered me, as she approached us earlier on in the year to work on their re-launch. A couple of weeks ago we had a launch event for the AW14 shimmer collection colours at Orico London on The Kings Road. Whenever I go to paint my nails from my HJ Manicure box it is such a tough decision. The colours are all so appealing – I find it tough to pick a favourite out of all 20! Now, I don’t have 20 of them, more like 10, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to add some more to my collection!

So the launch event was all about the new shimmer collection. It was difficult enough choosing between the four new colours, but seen as I was wearing an electric blue dress, I went for the midnight sky option.

The other options from the new range are Vintage Bronze, Alpine Green and Pink Champagne.

I very nearly went for the vintage bronze, and to show you all how beautiful this colour is, I snapped a pic of my friend Organic Makeup Artist Laura Jane Sessions’ nails with this fab colour on.

Another great shade from the collection, especially one for all the ladies who love nude shades, is Coco.

I am not usually one to go in for nude shades, but I was wearing the scarf used as the background for these photos and realised that this was the perfect complimentary colour to accessorise with.

It’s so stunningly elegant, I’m sure you’ll agree.

I’ve also tried the Blue Lagoon, a bright, highly pigmented polish, but unfortunately I didn’t get around to snapping my hand. Same for my first foray into nail art, whereby I covered the whole nail with Lavender and then painted the tip with Thunderstorm. The end result was super chic. I am off on holiday soon and already planning which colours to plump for on my fingers and toes. I’ve narrowed it down to Tropical Sunset, Candy Pink, Pink Bikini, Strawberry Daiquiri and Turquoise Sea! So half the holiday collection then… I love the names of the products too, all so fitting for the colours!

A little background on HJ Manicure

HJ Manicure is the brainchild of Helen J, a session manicurist, model and founder of full service agency 61 Productions Ltd. Helen has extensive experience in many areas of the fashion industry including modelling, photographic producion and management.

Helen trained as a manicurist and nail technician over 12 years ago and has worked for clients such as All Saints Spitalfields, Avon Cosmetics, Boots, Grazia, Stylist and Cosmopolitan, as well as with many celebrities.

The reason HJ Manicure is pushing my buttons is the fact it’s a 5-Free nail polish brand, the colours are fabulous, and the staying power of the nail polishes is rather impressive. It’s two days short of three weeks since my last manicure with the products and the chips are minimal!

I’ve been asked to expand on 5-Free a lot recently, and this means it is free of Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Di-butyl phthalate and Camphor (all preservatives that can be linked to cancer and skin irritations), as well as animal derivatives. The products are cruelty free and vegan friendly.
