Hands on Holiday!

It’s always said that you can tell a woman’s age from her hands, so all the more reason whilst on holiday to keep them protected!

Our hands are exposed almost all the time, bar those exceptionally cold days when you don your winter gloves, which means that they are in the sun’s rays more often than not. Our hands are often one of the most used parts of our body, so they deserve a little bit of extra pampering.

When Elijah gave me a sneak preview of this new product, and the new branding of Bodhi & Birch, at Natural & Organic Products Europe, I got very excited. As most of your will know Bodhi was the original name of the brand. Bodhi is a Buddhist word which means the understanding Buddhists have of the nature of things. It is translated into English to “enlightenment” and its literal translation is just awakened. The Birch tree is symbolic in many cultures, and is associated with renewal and purification.

The addition of Birch, and its meaning, to the brand name fits in perfectly with this new launch – Lime Blossom Protecting Hand Serum. The formula contains Olive Squalene, which helps with cell renewal, and Lime and Green Mandarin which possess antibacterial properties, thus helping purify our hands! There’s also plenty more skin beneficial ingredients including EFA-rich Rosehip Oil, Plum Kernel Oil (not seen that often in beauty but rich in Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid, and contains Vitamin E, B, pro-B5 and Sterols!) and pure Vitamin E.

As ever with Bodhi & Birch products the fragrance is immaculate, absolute perfection. It’s so green and fresh, the Lime Peel Oil and Green Mandarin Peel Oil create a main scent reminiscent of Sherbert Limes – it’s that zingy! There’s also a soapy smell which adds to that Sherbert Lime-iness. Other oils involved in creating the flawless fragrance are Frankincense, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Lavender and Hyacinth.  It’s difficult to pick out any individually but I think my nose observes a touch of the Frankincense and Eucalyptus, and the floral bouquet is what contributes the smell of soapiness!

Bodhi & Birch Lime Blossom Protecting Hand Serum is a unique product, helping to sanitise hands whilst also hydrating and protecting. It’s my new holiday handbag essential, it’s getting quite cramped in there with beauty products so I may have to have a clear out soon! Or get a bigger bag….. It’s a dark bottle glass so difficult to tell how much we’ve used in the week and a bit we’ve been using it, but as only one pump is needed per application I imagine this is going to last ages! The serum also makes a great cuticle treatment, apply a smidgen to each nail and massage in till absorbed.

holiday

Upon first trying Bodhi & Birch Lime Blossom Protecting Hand Serum, I recalled a product that I knew would go just perfectly with the serum! Sranrom Calm Down Hand Cream. I received a Sranrom set two Christmas’ ago and fell for the scent of the Calm Down products. Rather than your usual Lavender, Chamomile and Sandalwood relaxing scents, the Calm Down range calls upon Kaffir Lime, Lemongrass and Spearmint, and has a simultaneously calming and uplifting effect. The cream contains hydrating Jojoba Oil, Nourishing Shea Butter and nutrient-rich Rice Bran Oil. It’s not too heavy which made it perfect for layering with the hand serum on holiday, and I was correct – the fragrances married perfectly.

I think usually the serum would do perfectly well on its own, but as I was spending a week of holiday in the sunshine I wanted to ensure my hands didn’t dry out and I wanted to keep them protected.
